Gjasat janë të mëdha që kur kjo revistë të dalë në treg në tezgat e Shqipërisë, ky burrë i ri me emër të çuditshëm e lëkurë të errët do të jetë njeriu me potencialin më të madh tjetërsues të funksionimit të planetit tonë në vitet që pasojnë, Presidenti i Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës. Një vit më parë e ca më parë fillova të insistoj me miqtë e mi, kundër të gjitha gjasave, se Obama do të ishte udhëheqësi i Botës së Re me arsyetimin se Barack Obama ishte një etalon i ‘politikës së re’, prova e gjallë e aktivizmit që mund apatinë, shembulli shpresëplote se historia e të rinjve në politikë nuk mund të diskreditohet nga industria e shëmtuar e shpifjes dhe sharjes, ekzemplari më i ri e drithërues i ëndrrës amerikane.
Më duhet të rrëfej, se një pjesë të grishjes për të avokuar fenomenin Obama e kisha nga kërkimi personal gjatë themelimit të G99-ës për prova se politika nuk është e tëra e pistë, se kalimi nga shoqëria civile në politikë nuk është mëkat, dhe se puna e ndershme e përpjekjet e sinqerta për ndryshim janë kura më e mirë për skepticizmin e cinizmin kronik. I lindur nga një baba zezak, i rritur vetëm nga nëna dhe gjyshja e tij, jeta e Barack Obamës është një dëshmi - kundra gjithë gjasave - e besimit për të realizuar gjëra që të tjerët para tij nuk guxonin t’i ëndërronin, e besimit që njerëzit bashkohen më fort nga dashuria dhe shpresa se nga urrejtja dhe frika.
Obama na konfirmon sesi në Shqipëri dhe në SHBA, apo edhe kudo në botë, njerëzit aspirojnë për të njëjtat gjëra: jetë të shëndetshme, edukim cilësor, një familje të fortë, pension dinjitoz, si dhe respekt, solidaritet e liri të shprehjes. E ndonëse shumë nga këto gjëra njerëzit i arrijnë vetë, në sajë të talentit, sipërmarrjes e punës së tyre të ndershme, të gjithë e ndjejnë nevojën e shtetit në orën e tyre të mirë të një ideje të re që kërkon përkrahje apo në dekikën e tyre të keqe të një dështimi që injekton dëshpërim, në hapat e parë të jetës së pavarur prej prindërve apo në muzgun e një jete të jetuar plot mundime, në përpjekjen për të jetuar në një vend më të mirë apo për t’u ndjerë më mirë në vendin ku jetojmë.
Si aktivist i shoqërisë civile në Chicago, Obama dëshmon rolin e pazëvendësueshëm të organizatave jo-qeveritare në avokimin e atyre nevojave të cilat qeveritë shpesh zgjedhin t’i injorojnë. Organizatat e shoqërisë civile, grupet komunitare, sindikatat e zejeve dhe unionet e punetorëve janë të gjithë penjtë që mbajnë bashkë stofin e shoqërisë tonë, ndaj është e rëndësishme që ato jo vetëm të ekzistojnë, por të gëlojnë. Si në rastin e Obamës, ato janë shpesh një para-shkollë politike, mënyra më e mirë për të shtrënguar duart, prekur hallet e mësuar dertet e atyre që të lodhur e zhgënjyer kërkojnë një përfaqësim më të denjë në politikën që vendos të ardhmen e tyre.
Për secilin djalë a vajzë të re që sot aspiron jetën publike, por nuk guxon ta provojë sepse pas cepit të angazhimit publik e pret egersia dhe injoranca e tregtarëve të vjetër të frikës e baltës, suksesi i Obamës ofron një over-dozë me kurajë! Kurajë, dhe nëse nuk keni lindur në një familje të pasur apo të lidhur me elitën politike. Kurajë, dhe nëse idetë tuaja nuk janë shumë popullore në fillim. Kurajë, dhe nëse rrëzoheni herën e parë a të dytë që e provoni. Lajmi i mirë nga fenomeni Obama është se me kurajë, dinjitet e punë të palodhur për të mirën publike gjithcka është e mundur. Si shqiptarë, ka më shumë gjëra që na bashkojnë sesa ato që na ndajnë, nuk ka arsye pse të mos e kthejmë kombin tonë në një histori suksesi. Unë jam i bindur se të gjithë bashkë, me shumë besim, kurajë dhe guxim: Do t’ia dalim!
